The "Beauty and the Beach" is an annual community event that brings awareness to the importance of cleaning up pollution and promotes safe behavior while enjoying our beaches.
Over the years, the event has become a part of the community and has attracted media attention and a higher profile highlighting the importance of cleaner beaches. Since the event's inception, community volunteers, civic leaders, and El Segundo Power employees have collected over 1,500 pounds of trash from a two-mile stretch of coastline on Dockweiller Beach.
The beach clean begins in the parking lot of El Segundo Beach and ends with a catered barbecue lunch, an award ceremony for the T-shirt Art Contest winner (a new t-shirt logo designed to depict a beach clean-up environmental theme by students in the art contest), and fun activates at the El Segundo Power station.
Each volunteer will receive an event T-shirt along with beach cleaning materials and a sense of camaraderie with their fellow beach clean-up newfound friends at the beginning of the event. Our greatest hope for this event is that each child and adult who participates in this event will enjoy our unique Southern California beach even more and better understand their part in keeping our beaches safe and beautiful.
The date will be announced as soon as the City is able to provide us with a date. We will contact the vendors as soon as we have information.
